An InsightView dashboard displays real-time data from various sources (including third-party data sources) in a single page within the Web Client. You can create customized dashboards for each role in a facility. There are three types of InsightView dashboard:

  • Dashboards

These display data related to a selected object, allowing you to easily visualize plant information relevant to that object. For example, a dashboard can be opened from a tag's Actions menu and can display information related to that tag.

These dashboards can be displayed as a pop-up window or as its own page.

  • Home Screens

These can be used as a user's default home page instead of the feature sets, providing users with easy access to their tasks and a role-based view of their assets and critical information.

The user selects between feature sets and a home screen dashboard in their user options. For more information, see Set a home screen dashboard as your home page.

  • Context Panels

These display data related to a selected object, in a split screen view. For example, you can select a tag and a context panel displays its properties and any other data, alongside the Results page. For more information, see Using a Context Panel dashboard.

A dashboard is made up of a web page containing a number of widgets. Each widget can display data from a different data source. A widget can be used in multiple web pages if required.

SHARED Tip To see what dashboards a widget is used in, search for the widget and select Actions > Show Web Page.

Before you can connect to another data source, you need to set up the authorization server which will authorize requests for data to a data source. You also need to create Web APIs to request the data from the data sources. Dashboards use the Open Data Protocol (OData) version 4, and Web API v1 and v2 to access data from other systems.

For more information on OData, see Using OData in Web API v1 or v2.
