Only master job definitions can be copied. You can use the Copy Job Definition option to convert master job definitions to editable copies.

  1. In the Job Definition pane, select a master (MSR) job definition from the list.

  2. In the main toolbar, click Copy Job Definition .

SHARED Tip This option is available only when you are copying a master job definition.

  3. In the Copy Job Definition dialog box, modify the job definition components on each page as required. For more information on the component properties for each page, see Create a job definition.

What are the additional steps involved in copying a job definition?

    • Use the New Rules Prefix option to specify a prefix while copying the master ruleset to create new copies with the prefix. MSR and HEX prefixes cannot be used for creating new rulesets when you are copying a master ruleset.

    • Specify a new name to copy the import definition or use an existing import definition to relate to the job definition in the Import Definitions page.

    • Specify a new name to copy the ruleset or use an existing ruleset to relate to the job definition in the Rule Sets page.

    • On the Summary page, check the details for all the components modified in the job definition. All completed component pages are displayed with a check mark.

    • To update a setting in a previous component page, click on the page and update the setting, as necessary.

    • Click Finish to save the new job definition.

If you change a setting that affects other pages, for example by changing the workflow, then all subsequent pages must be completed again.
