This section guides you through creating a basic InsightView dashboard for SDx Operations showing details relating to a specific tag in your system, and making it available from a tag's Actions menu.

There are three main steps to create a dashboard:

  1. Create a Web API, if required. SDx already delivers a Web API to connect to your local SDx system.

    What is a Web API?

    A Web API identifies a data source that we want to connect to. The data source can be local (your SDx system) or remote (an external system).

  2. Create the dashboard and make it available to selected users. For our example, we want to make it available to all users who can view tags.

  3. Configure the widgets on the dashboard. For our example, we will use some of the sample widgets provided in SDx.

Once you have created your dashboard you can view it on the Actions menu of a tag as described in View your dashboard.
