This feature is available only for the DataCaptureAdministrator role users.

You can export your custom tag naming systems or tag discovery patterns, from the source site to the target site, only under the Configuration top or the plant scope. The supported tag discovery pattern types are master, alias, and group.

Before exporting, you must ensure that the following conditions are met:

  • The target site is up to date.

  • The Data Validator target system URL setting in the Desktop Client is set to the required target site. For more information, see Edit a target system.

  • The Tag Naming Systems have been exported to the target site.

    How can I export Tag Naming Systems to the target site?

    You can load and export your custom tag naming systems to the target site using the Web client.

    Before exporting, you must ensure that the following conditions are met:

    • The target site is up to date.

    • The Data Validator target system URL setting in the Desktop Client is set to the required target site. For more information, see Edit a target system.

    • Custom tag name parameters are configured in the target site.

    • If Document Naming System (DNS) objects are present in the source site, they are also configured in the target site.

    1. In the Load Manager feature set, select Load Tag Naming Systems.

    2. In the Load Tag Naming Systems form, type Description in the Main details section.

      • Name and Classification are automatically assigned by the software.

      • You can select Suppress ENS to suppress the ENS and name the objects according to the values in the input CSV file.

    3. Click NEXT.

    4. In the Select a csv file to attach pane, select the Local File System.

    5. Click CHOOSE FILES, select a CSV file to add to the load job, and click NEXT.

      How can I generate a CSV file for tag naming systems and tag discovery patterns?

      To generate the CSV file, use the Data Capture adhoc reports delivered with the product. Run an appropriate report based on the configuration type of the source site. The following adhoc reports can be used.

    6. Click FINISH to create a load job to export the tag naming systems from the source to the target site.

  • If separators exist in the source site tag discovery pattern data, they are configured in the target site too.

  • Character ranges are configured in the target site. For more information, see Add languages and set the character ranges.

Export master tag patterns

  1. In the Load Manager feature set, select Load Master Tag Patterns.

  2. Type Description in the Main details section.

    • Name and Classification are automatically assigned by the software.

    • You can select Suppress ENS to suppress the ENS and name the objects according to the values in the input CSV file.

  3. Click NEXT.

  4. Click Select Target System Configuration to select an appropriate scope in the target site to which the tag discovery patterns will be exported.

  5. In the Select a csv file to attach pane, select the Local File System.

  6. Click CHOOSE FILES, select a CSV file to add to the load job, and click NEXT.

    How can I generate a CSV file for tag naming systems and tag discovery patterns?

    To generate the CSV file, use the Data Capture adhoc reports delivered with the product. Run an appropriate report based on the configuration type of the source site. The following adhoc reports can be used.

  7. Click FINISH to create a load job to export the tag discovery patterns from the source to the target site.

Export alias tag patterns

You must load the master tag discovery patterns before exporting the alias tag patterns.

  1. In the Load Manager feature set, select Load Alias Tag Patterns.

  2. Repeat steps 2 to 7 given in the Export master tag patterns, to create a load job to export the alias tag patterns from the source to the target site.

Export group tag patterns

  1. In the Load Manager feature set, select Load Group Tag Patterns.

  2. Repeat steps 2 to 7 given in the Export master tag patterns, to create a load job to export the group tag patterns from the source to the target site.

View the status of the load job

  1. In the Load Manager feature set,click Show My Load Jobs.

  2. On the My Load Jobs page, select a load job, and click Expand Load Job to expand it and monitor the progress.

    SHARED Tip You can click Refresh Refresh Load Job in the expanded view of the load job, to view its current progress.
