If general operations are slow on a system running multiple users but not with only one user, the server might be overloaded. Consider the following changes:

  • Monitor server memory usage.

    • Exceeding the memory on the server commonly results in memory errors. Monitor the server memory to check usage against allocation.

      • If memory is being exceeded, increase available memory.

  • Offload the HxGN SDx Scheduler.

    • Set up an additional computer to process the scheduled tasks.

    • This arrangement is useful for integrated systems, because this additional machine handles the TEF load queue.

    • It is also useful when running FTR indexing and large background reports.

    • For details on configuring the scheduler on a remote machine, refer to Application Server Installation and Setup for HxGN SDx.

  • Offload the file server, as described in Why is viewing files slow? and detailed in Application Server Installation and Setup for HxGN SDx.

  • Synchronize the cache.

  • Use multiple worker processors.

    • This arrangement spreads the load across multiple processors on the same server or multiple servers.

    • This option is particularly useful on systems with large numbers of concurrent users.

    • For more information, refer to Application Server Installation and Setup for HxGN SDx.
