You can create dynamic sections to be displayed as a set of tabs on a new form, each containing a set of column display items. In large complex forms, there can be many column items configured to display as a single list of display items, which can be very long to scroll. Grouping column items by section tabs reduces the form length and groups specific items into manageable groups, such as when you create a new object. A form can be defined to contain multiple section tabs, each displaying a logically grouped list of column items.

This feature only applies to classified items.

When you select a classification to create a new object, (such as Create Tag), the New Create Tag form displays the dynamic sections as tabs, each containing an ordered group of column items, as shown in the following image:

The tabs support all types of forms, such as update, query, details, and so on.

Create a section tab

To create a dynamic section tab, use the following steps:

  1. Click Find > Administration > Form to display a list of forms in the system.

  2. Right-click any form in the list, and click Manage Sections.

  3. On the Manage sections toolbar, click Create to create a new form section.

  4. Enter the details in the Name and Display as boxes. For example, Properties.

  5. In Attribution Manager Dynamic Section details, click the Is Attribution Manager Section? option to display the dynamic section as a tab in a selected form.

  6. Click Finish.

  • You do not need to relate the new section to the selected form as it is dynamically applied to the form when required.

  • Form sections given a form purpose display only on forms configured for that form purpose. For example, form sections given the form purpose GetInfo displays only on the Details form.

  • You can also make these section tabs using the Loader.

  • You can also create a dynamic section tab using SmartPlant Attribution Manager. For more information, see Modify attributes.

After creating the section tabs:

  1. Configure a column set dedicated to a classification and add the column items you want displayed. For more information, see Configure column sets.

  2. In the Tree view, relate the classification to the column set by dragging and dropping. This uses the SPFColumnSetObjClass relationship definition to make the relationship.

  3. In the Tree view, right-click the column set, and click, Show Column Items.

  4. Right-click a column item, and click Update.

  5. In the Dynamic form section box, select the form section previously created, such as Properties. The column item will now display on the Properties tab.

SHARED Tip You can also set the column items for a dynamic section tab using SmartPlant Attribution Manager. For more information, see Modify the attribute sequence.

  6. Click Finish.

  • If a column item is not related to a section tab, it is shown in a list on the Main Details tab, along with any default column items, such as Name and Description.

  • The column set removes any gaps on a new hard-configured form and prevents any column item duplication.

  • Each column item in a section tab is displayed in the same order as the selected OrderValue when you select Manage Column Items for a column set. You can override this column order sequence using the Use Form Sequence Override system option to prevent sequencing many column sets individually. For more information, see Configure column sets.
