You can build the query information you want using the Attribute Query By Classification wizard to display the attributes and column sets you want to view or modify. The attribute query defines the starting objects, which displays all the applicable attributes and column sets in which they are used. You build the query based on the various main criteria you first select for the query, such as a:

  • Class Definition

  • Parent Classification

  • Child Classifications

The Attribute Query By Classification wizard displays the following main pages when you create an attribute query:

Main criteria page

The Main Criteria page is where you select a classification or class definition as the starting object type for your attribute query. Click the required option and select the classification or class definition object from a drop-down list, and click Next.

SHARED Tip Click Check for updates if you have created any new attributes or classifications in the database.

Classification page

The Classification page is where you can select the classifications in a tree view to define the query to a return a targeted set of object attributes. You can select either a top-level parent classification or class definition, which selects all the child classifications in the tree view or you can select just a parent or child classification object only. Click the required classification options from the tree view, and click Next.

When a class definition is selected as the Main Criteria, only the classification options controlled by the selected class definition can be selected.

Summary page

The Summary page is where you confirm the details of the attribute query are correct or you can go back and edit the query and refine the details further if required. Click Finish to run the query.
