For details of configuring the view definitions, refer to How to Configure the Reports Model.

View definitions for ad hoc reports

For the user to have access to ad hoc reports, they must be in a role that contains a message access group that is related to the view definition. Once the view definition has been defined, drag and drop the relevant message access group on to the view definition.

Create a single view on object

Create the view definition and relate it to one of the interfaces on the object's class definition. If the view definition is applicable for a number of class definitions it can be related to a general interface, otherwise related to the primary interface of the class definition.

Control which view definitions a user sees

The control of the alternative view definition is achieved by relating an owning group to the interface to which the view definition is related. For example, the process owning view definition should be related to the process interface and the instrument owning group related to the instrument interface. Now when a process engineer logs in, they will see the process view definition; when an instrument engineer logs in, they will see the process view definition.
