This functionality was modified in an update. For more information, see Export business objects within the same site using Data Validator (modified in an update).

You must complete the following tasks to process the business objects and export them using Data Validator.

  1. Create View Definitions Group in the Data Capture Administration module.

  2. Create an Data Validator job definition in the Data Capture Administration module.

  3. Create a work package in the Data Capture Task Manager module for the processed business objects.

  4. Create a managed data task for the work package containing the business objects in the Data Capture Task Manager module.

Create View Definitions Group

If you are trying to export business objects using Data Validator, you can export tags that correspond to specific documents directly without adding the tags to the work package. This can be done by creating a view definition group with a document and tag pair that has same document interface.

  1. Log on to the software as Data CaptureAdministrator, and then click Data Capture Administration.

  2. Click Central Settings.

  3. Click View Definitions Group to view the list of view definitions groups that already exist in the application.

  4. On the View Definitions Group page, click Create View Definitions Group .

  5. Type a name of the view definitions group in the Name box.

    You can also type a description for the view definition group in the Description box.

  6. Type a keyword to search for view definitions in the Search View Definitions box.

    SHARED Tip You can type %FDW% in the Search View Definitions box to get a view definitions list consisting of SPFNFDW_Document and SPFNFDW_DocumentTags.

    • The view definitions SPFNFDW_Document and SPFNFDW_DocumentTags are provided with the Data Capture and they define the document and tag extraction.

    • You can enhance the existing view definitions or create new view definitions to define the data that must be transferred.

  7. Select one or more view definitions group from the View Definitions pane, and click to add them to the View Definitions to be used for Export pane.

  8. Click OK to create a new view definitions group, and add it to the list.

Create a Data Validator Job Definition

The Data Validator Job Definitions page allows you to create a new Data Validator job definition, and generate the required CSV file and control file.

  1. Log on to SmartPlant Dashboard.

  2. Click Data Capture Administration to open the Data Capture Administration module.

  3. Click Data Reader Patterns.

  4. Click Create Data Validator Job Definition to open the Create Data Validator Job Definition page.

  5. In the Name box, type the name of the new Data Validator job definition as it is created in Data Validator.

  6. In the Description box, type a description for the new Data Validator job definition.

  7. In the Target System box, type the name of the target system as created in Data Validator.

  8. In the Control File Directory box, type the location of the Control File Directory.

  9. In the Username box, type your Data Validator target system username.

  10. In the Target Configuration box, type your target configuration. For example: ConfigurationTop~PlantA

    SHARED Tip For example, you can use same UNC path as Target System, Control File Directory, and Target Configuration.

  11. Select Suppress ENS check box, to create objects by suppressing ENS when exporting the objects to the target system. If the value is set to True, then the objects are created with the object names defined in the .csv file by suppressing the ENS in the target system. If the value is set to False, while exporting, the objects are created with ENS defined in the target system.

  12. Click OK > Save to create and save the new Data Validator job definition.

Create a new work package

  1. Log on to the software as Data CaptureController, and then click Data Capture Task Manager.

  2. Click Managed Data Tasks.

  3. On the Work Packages page, click Create Work Packages .

  4. Select the Transfer any Business Object check box to transfer data other than the documents.

  5. Type a name for the work package in the Name box.

  6. Type a description for the work package in the Description box.

  7. In the Search Criteria section, select any business object from the Business Objects list. For example, you can select Tag as the business object from the Business Object list.

    This option is disabled if you do not select Transfer any Business Object check box.

  8. Type the search keyword in the Filter Value box, and click Search.

  9. Select one or more documents from the Data Capture Data pane, and click Export to FDW domain to move the documents to the Work Package Documents pane.

  10. On the Tags tab, select one or more tags from the Data Capture Data pane, and click Export to FDW domain to move the selected tags to the FDW Ready Documents pane.

  11. Select one or more documents in the FDW Ready Documents pane, and click Configure Document Revision Scheme Configure_Document_RevisionScheme to apply a revision scheme to the selected documents. For example, you can either set Rev01A as revision scheme with major revision as 01 and minor revision as A or set RevNum as revision scheme with default value 10 as major revision.

  12. Click Save.

  • You can also click View Document Relationships to view the relationships of the document in the Resolve Relationships module.

  • You can click Configure Column Set Configure Column set to configure the column set for the selected documents present in the Data Capture Data pane.

Create a managed data task for the work package

  1. Click Managed Data Tasks in the Data Capture Task Manager module.

  2. In the Managed Data Tasks page, click Create Managed Data Tasks .

  3. Type the description of the managed data task in the Description box.

  4. Click Export Data (Data Validator) to process and transfer the data to the Facility Data Warehouse within the same site using the Data Validator.

    SHARED Tip You can check the status of the successfully exported data displayed as Data Validator Processing Passed under the Status column header in the Managed data tasks page.

  5. Select the respective work package from the Work Package list.

  6. Select a Data Validator job definition from the Data Validator Job Definition list.

  7. Select the respective view definition group from the View Definitions Group list.

  8. Click OK to export data to the Facility Data Warehouse. After the transfer the corresponding object’s status is not changed in the Data Capture.

  • To export previously exported business objects, select the Include Exported Data check box.

  • To export latest version of the document, select the Export Only Latest Version check box.

  • To view validation details and transfer details of data, click Validate Report and Transfer Report respectively.

  • Data is completely transferred only after Data Validator picks up and processes the task. If Data Validator does not pick the task, the status of the task appears as 50%.
