  1. Open a model or create a model in CADWorx Structure.

  2. Click Foundations Footings ICon on the Model panel.

    The Foundations palette displays.

  3. Click Pier Pier_Icon, Pier and Slab PierAndSlab_Icon, or Slab Slab_Icon. You also have the option to select Pile System. For placing pile systems, see Place a pile system by points and Place a pile system by selecting objects.

    • If you select Pier Pier_Icon, the properties for General, Grout, and Pier display.

    • If you select Pier and Slab PierAndSlab_Icon, the properties for General, Grout, Pier, and Slab display.

    • If you select Slab Slab_Icon, the properties for General, Grout, and Slab display.

  4. Select With Grout to include a grout in your footing.

  5. Type a Rotation of 0 to 359.

  6. Select a Group and a Layer.

  7. Select a Material. This material applies to the pier and the slab.

  8. If you selected a grout, do the following:

    1. Select a Shape.

    • If you select Circle or Octagonal, the software displays the Grout Radius instead of Length and Width.

    • If you select Circle or Octagonal, the software displays the Inscribed check box. Select or clear.

    1. Type a Grout Length.

    2. Type a Grout Width.

    3. Type a Grout Thickness.

    4. Check or clear Column Extents.

      1. If you selected Column Extents, type the Grout Edge Clearance.

        If you select Column Extents, the software calculates the footing based on the column size and ignores the Grout Length and Grout Width values.

    5. Select a Material.

    6. Select a Layer.

      When you select a group in the General tab, the software automatically populates the layers in the other available tabs.

  9. If the Pier tab is available, do the following:

    1. Select a Shape.

    • If you select Circle or Octagonal, the software displays the Pier Radius instead of Length and Width.

    • If you select Circle or Octagonal, the software displays the Inscribed check box. Select or clear.

    1. Type a Pier Length.

    2. Type a Pier Width.

    3. Type a Pier Height.

    4. Check or clear Column Extents.

      1. If you selected Column Extents, type the Pier Edge Clearance.

        If you select Column Extents, the software calculates the footing based on the column size and ignores the Pier Length and Pier Width values.

    5. Select a Layer.

      When you select a group in the General tab, the software automatically populates the layers in the other available tabs.

  10. If the Slab tab is available, do the following:

    1. Select a Shape.

    • If you select Circle or Octagonal, the software displays the Slab Radius instead of Length and Width.

    • If you select Circle or Octagonal, the software displays the Inscribed check box. Select or clear.

    1. Type a Slab Length.

    2. Type a Slab Width.

    3. Type a Slab Thickness.

    4. Check or clear Column Extents.

      1. If you selected Column Extents, type the Slab Edge Clearance.

        If you select Column Extents, the software calculates the footing based on the column size and ignores the Slab Length and Slab Width values.

    5. Type the X Offset.

    6. Type the Y Offset.

    7. Select a Layer.

      When you select a layer in the General tab, the software automatically populates the layers in the other available tabs.

  11. Update the Long Description, Short Description, Part Number, and Tag.

  12. Select Point from the Place By list.

  13. Click Insert.

  14. Click insertion points in the 3D model space, and then press ENTER. Alternatively, click the centerline endpoint of the column, and then press ENTER to finish. The red circles indicate the endpoint of the cardinal line on the column.

    Routed Points Selected

    CADWorx Structure places the foundation in the 3D model space.

    Placed with Routed mode
