Time-Phasing is a required process for line items when Time-Phase is checked in the Project Setup screen (Projects > Project SetupGeneral tab). It does not impact line items associated with a change with a Submitted, Partially Submitted, or Approved status.

Time-phasing may be performed as follows:

  • Manually at either the objects or line item level.

  • Systematically by assigning a Start Date, End Date, and Curve (Scope, Budget, and Forecast- changes) at the objects or line item level. If a line item has a Manual curve, then the Cost, Hours, and, Quantities for those objects must be spread manually using the Time-Phasing tab. The Costs, Hours, and Quantities of objects associated with any other curve types may be systematically spread using the Time-Phase Unapproved Change action. The results of the Time-Phase Unapproved Change action can be viewed on the Time-Phasing tab. However, if the curve is not Manual, data cannot be updated.

  • To streamline the time-phasing of line item data while maintaining maximum control of per period values, one of the non-manual curves, time-phase the data, then assign the Manual curve to allow for per period control of values.

  • If the Project Exchange Rate Table is not established in Project Setup screen, the system cannot calculate Cost in Project Currency.
