EcoSys allows for the customization of Allowable Value error messages when a value is sent to a parameter through binding/context and the value is improper.

When a custom validation message is not configured, the system error message is displayed and is in the form “The value for parameter ‘<Parameter Name>’ is not a valid value, you must input a value which satisfies allowable value settings”.

In the dictionary’s Parameters tab, there is a Validation Failure Message field that can be set to have an alternative message appear that is more meaning full to the configuration.

This message will appear in place of the system message.

For example:

If the parameter is required, an error message indicating the parameter is required will also appear since a valid value has not been set on the parameter.

When using custom allowable value messages, the en-us locale files must exist in the environment even if other locales are not being used. The same localization process can be used without adding an additional language. First, follow the steps in Localization Process to generate the en-us locale files and then follow the steps in Localization Migration process to migrate the en-us files to production.
