Document filters convert proprietary document formats into a format that the indexing engine understands. Objects can be indexed only after a filter is set for their file types.

  1. In the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client, click Find > Administration > File Type.

  2. Right-click a file type and click Update on the shortcut menu.

  3. In the FTR filter name box, select an appropriate filter for the file type.

    • FTR provides several filters for various file types. In most cases, you can use these filters directly. For more information about the filters, see FTR Document Filters.

    • To support search of texts in regional languages, such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, you must use a localized ftmf filter provided with FTR for relevant object types. The following are some examples.

      Language

      Filter

      Chinese

      ftmf/c=u/i=GB2312_UCS2

      Japanese

      ftmf/c=u/i=EUC_JP_UCS2

      Korean

      ftmf/c=u/i=KSC_5601_1992_UCS2

  4. Click Finish.
