The System Global Area (SGA) is a shared memory area used by Oracle database processes. The three main components are: shared pool, log buffer and database buffer cache. Increase the SGA size in Oracle and TMP size in MS SQL will ensure the queries and data are cached in memory longer for faster retrieval and processing.
