Prior to creating the compatible units library records, the system administrator and/or compatible units librarian had defined CU standard rates for all trades that are used for compatible units, and CU standard prices for all parts used for compatible units. Assuming that the CU standard rate for labor of the electrical trade is $40.00/hour; the CU standard rate for an excavator is $100.00/hour; and the CU standard prices for a pole, crossarm and transformer are $500.00, $200.00, and $1000.00 respectively, the detailed costs for the CU estimate can then be calculated as follows:

When the estimator receives indication to proceed from an approving party based on the detailed costs for the CU estimate, he then selects the Approve Estimate button to indicate that the specific estimate has been approved. Once the CU estimate is in Approved status, he is then able to use the CU estimate to generate work order activities.
