The Equipment Ranking screen has these important attributes:

  1. Equipment Ranking - The unique identifier for the equipment ranking.

  2. Organization - Organization of the equipment ranking. Can be common.

  3. Description - Short description of the equipment ranking.

  4. Type - System Codes types entity "RATP". Select one of these options:

    1. Reliability Index - Used to determine the reliability index of the equipment.

    2. Facility Condition Index - Used to determine the facility condition index of the equipment.

    3. Condition Index - Used to determine the condition index of the equipment.

    4. Risk Priority Index - Used to determine the risk priority index of the equipment.

    5. Criticality Index - Used to determine the criticality of the equipment.

Reliability index type can also be used for objectives. None of the other types can.

  5. Condition Protocol - A condition protocol can only be entered if the selected Type is "Condition Index". Select one of these options:

    1. Condition Inspection - This option should be used with a regular Survey Setup, using questions both manually answered by the user or automatically by the system through queries and checklist results. With this protocol selected the associated equipment ranking can be used to determine the correction condition score.

    2. Age - Condition score is a function of age. The older the equipment gets the less favorable the score.

    3. Usage - Condition score is a function of usage. The more miles travelled, the less favorable the score.

    4. Decay Curve (Age) - Condition score is determined by the age of the equipment. The age is then used to find a matching Point Value on the selected Decay Curve, which in turn is associated to a condition score.

    5. Decay Curve (% of Age) - Condition score is determined by the age of the equipment. The age is converted into a percentage (of service life) and then used to find a matching Point Value on the selected Decay Curve, which in turn is associated to a condition score.

    6. Decay Curve (Usage) - Same as "Decay Curve (Age)", but now for usage.

    7. Decay Curve (% of Age) - Same as "Decay Curve (% of Age)", but now for usage.

See later in this document for details on the calculations performed.

  6. Decay Curve - This field remains protected, unless your selection for Condition Protocol references a decay curve. These curves are defined on the Decay Curves screen. If a decay curve is selected here, the condition score start, and end are determined by the decay curve and cannot be defined on this screen anymore. Decay curves with any status can be selected here.

Your condition protocol selection does not limit the decay curve types you can select. So, it is possible to select a usage-based condition protocol with an age-based decay curve for example. We recommend you select carefully.

  7. Condition Score Start - Enter the condition score for the equipment at the beginning of life.

  8. Condition Score End - Enter the condition score for the equipment at the end of life.

  9. Condition Score Threshold - Enter the condition score for the equipment after which the equipment is rendered end of useful life. This value must be between Condition Score Start and Condition Score End. For example, a starting score of 6 and an ending score of 1 could have a threshold ranging from 6 to 1. Logic would dictate that threshold to be closer to the 1 in such a scenario, so maybe a 2 or a 3. If your Organization uses a system where the starting value is lower than the ending value that can also be configured. For example, a starting value of 10 and an ending value of 20 with a threshold of 18. Even negative scores are permitted.

  10. Track History - If selected the system will keep track of the calculated score and index for the equipment every time the calculation procedure is executed. History can only be collected for the condition, the risk priority, and the criticality indexes of the equipment.

  11. Precision - Set the number of decimal digits to which the score will be rounded. If you leave this field blank rounding will be to the maximum of 6 decimal digits.

  12. Setup Last Updated - Indicates the last time a change to this equipment ranking was applied on the Survey Setup or Ranks tabs. Note that not all changes will set this date. A simple change of the description or the question of an existing level does not impact the calculation of the ranks. But a change in a formula will have impact and will set this date.

  13. Performance Formula - A performance formula can only be entered for a condition index. If filled in the system will calculate the equipment performance after it has calculated the condition score and rank for the equipment. Otherwise, if blank, no performance calculation will be performed. The actual formula used to calculate the performance may not be the one selected here. The system may decide to use the formula associated to the class of the equipment instead. For details on this selection and the calculation of the performance numbers please see the HxGN EAM Asset Performance Management brief. Note that the performance numbers are also included in the history, if Track History is selected.

  14. Correction Score Ranking - A correction score ranking can only be entered for a condition index with a condition protocol that is not equal to ‘Condition Inspection’ while the selected correction score ranking itself must have the ‘Condition Inspection’ protocol. If filled in the system will use this correction score ranking as a default when applying the equipment ranking to the equipment.

  15. Button:

    1. Copy Equipment Ranking - This button will let you copy an existing equipment ranking to a new one. To create a new equipment ranking:

    2. Select the equipment ranking you want to copy.

    3. Click the Copy Equipment Ranking button.

    4. On the popup enter New Equipment Ranking and Description.

      • Decide which data to copy. By default, all data will be selected.

      • Click Submit.

  16. Standard Tabs - Data on the Comments and Documents tab will be protected if the status of the observation is superseded or purged. The Translations tab is never protected.
