When a part is designated Track as Kit in the Parts screen, certain restrictions are placed on the kit that differentiate the kit from a normal part.
If the part is Track as Kit:

Preferred Supplier cannot be specified

Stores tab of Parts
-
Suppliers tab of Parts

Parts tab of Supplier

Cannot enter stock details such as Bin, Lot, Quantity, etc.

Cannot change the Part Number from non-Kit to Kit

Cannot change the Part Number from Kit to non-Kit

Kits cannot be ordered, requisitioned, RFQed, or blanket ordered
