On the Activities tab of the Work Order screen, you can also define the location of the work as it relates to the work order activity. A problem with the road surface can be fixed on one activity while replacing mile markers can be on a second activity. Each activity allows you to specify the location of the activity individually. The only constraint is that when you enter a location it must fall within the defined from and to point of the work order header.

This tab has the following important attributes relating to the linear work order:

  • From Point - Starting point of the activity. If you enter a value, it must be greater than or equal to the work order From Point.

  • From Point Ref. Description - Free text field.

  • From Point Geographical Ref. - Free text field.

  • To Point - Ending point of the activity. If you enter a value, it must be less than or equal to the work order To Point.

  • To Point Ref. Description - Free text field. Depending on the selected To Point this may default to a value coming from the linear reference records and is used to help identify the starting point.

  • To Point Geographical Ref. - Free text field. Depending on the selected To Point this may default to a value coming from the linear reference records and is used to help identify the starting point.

You can always leave both From Point and To Point blank. This means that the work order activity location is the same as that of the work order header.

Actions

  • Linear Location Details - This button will activate the Linear Location Details popup. On this popup you can specify location details more precise, like the Work Order screen. Meaning you can specify from and to reference points, offsets, and offset directions, that in turn determine the actual From Point and To Point. Additionally, you can enter X and Y coordinates, latitude and longitude, and horizontal and vertical offsets as well.

Note that the fields on this popup do not appear in the detail section on this tab. So, to change any of this data, you must always open the popup again. However, all the data from the popup is available in the grid, so you can make the fields visible through the layout editor of the Dataspy.
