  1. Select Work > Work Order.

  2. Select the work order for which to add activities, and then click the Activity tab.

  3. Click New Record.

    When adding work order activities, an Act# is automatically assigned.

    The Work Order Activity screen includes a Defer Maintenance check box that is read-only and hidden by default. Activities are deferred, meaning the work will not take place as part of the selected work order but may be picked up on some future work order. Deferred activities cannot be updated nor can transactions be created for them.

    To make this field visible, contact your system administrator.

  4. Specify this information:

    Note - Specify notes about the work order activity as necessary.

    Trade - Specify the trade required for the activity.

    Task - Specify the task list to attach to the activity.

    Start - Specify the start date for the activity.

    EstHrs - Specify the estimated number of hours required to complete the activity.

    People - Specify the number of people required to complete the activity.

    PerRes - Specify the person responsible for the activity.

    Completed - Select if the activity is completed.

    Warranty - Select if the equipment is under manufacturer warranty.

    Cmnt - Specify comments about the work order activity.

    • Specify the remaining fields only if you use the American Trucking Association’s Vehicle Maintenance Reporting System (VMRS).

    • Depending on your system configuration, the VMRS-related fields may not show. Contact your system administrator for more information.

    • The VMRS-related information you enter on this form is copied to all standard work order activities, PM activities, and work order activities with the selected task.

      SysLvl - Specify the VMRS code identifying the system, such as brakes, frame, suspension, needing repair (Code Key 31).

      AssLvl - Specify the VMRS code identifying the subsystem needing repair (Code Key 32). The values available are based on the system-level code.

      CmpLvl - Specify the VMRS code identifying the specific component or part needing repair (Code Key 33). The values available are based on a combination of the system-level code and the assembly-level code.

      Reason - Specify the reason the vehicle needs repair (Code Key 14).

      WrkAcc - Specify the work performed on the vehicle (Code Key 15).

      Failure - Specify the reason the technician or supplier thinks the vehicle failed (Code Key 18).

      Manuf - Specify the Manufacturer/Supplier Code (Code Key 34) to associate with the vehicle.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Click Yes.
