11.7.1

You will need equipment on which the WO activities will be based, and crews/employees dispatched. The equipment must have a location (latitude and longitude) specified so the Constraint Optimizer knows where the equipment is located.

The integration will get the equipment location from the X Coordinate and Y Coordinate fields (obj_xcoordinate & obj_ycoordinate) on the work order equipment record.

Both X and Y fields must be populated and formatted in Decimal Degrees, because that is the coordinate system that the Constraint Optimizer recognizes.

  • To get coordinates from Google Maps in Decimal Degrees, right click on the map and select "What’s here". At the bottom of the map a card will appear with the latitude/longitude in decimal degrees format.

  • If a valid location is not available for any of the WO equipment that would be sent to the Constraint Optimizer during a particular process, the entire process will be stopped and an error will be displayed (see Optimized Scheduler Setup screen & 5 Tabs section for details).

  • If ESRI GIS integration is used to create EAM equipment records, then the GIS administrator must make sure the map coordinate system is Decimal Degrees.

  • If the GIS integration has been implemented, then the Location X and Location Y equipment fields will be populated automatically with the map coordinates in whatever coordinate system is being used by the map itself. This is part of the normal, GIS integration and has nothing to do with the Constraint Optimizer integration. For the Constraint Optimizer integration to work, the GIS administrator must calculate the decimal degrees location data and store them in 2 additional attribute columns for the equipment feature class. These 2 attributes should be ‘mapped’ to the X Coordinate and Y Coordinate equipment fields using the Map Feature Attributes screen in the GIS Desktop or ArcGIS Pro product to ensure the decimal degrees location is available to the Constraint Optimizer integration.
