Simplified SDM is like SDM in that the matrix is attached to the equipment. However, the matrix does not use the Department and the Service Category, although the latter can be used as a method to filter service codes quickly.
To set up Simplified SDM:

Identify the relationship between suppliers and service codes. For example, Jones Plumbing is attached to service codes related to plumbing, while the Geek Squad only has service codes related to IT issues. You only need to do this once. For Department Structure and SDM this relationship must be recreated for every department or equipment you want to use it for.

Optionally, associate service categories to service codes. Only do this if there are lots of service codes and it will make your life easier if you can perform a sub-selection based on category, and therefore the list of service codes becomes smaller.

Associate suppliers to equipment. Like SDM this can be done on any level, e.g., campus, building, floor, room, or any other type of asset.

Simplified SDM is also like SDM in that the matrix rolls down from parent equipment to the children. However, with Simplified SDM you will be able to see the applicable matrix on the selected child equipment along with a clear indication from which parent the record originated. You will also be able to identify exceptions to this matrix on child level. You also have options like skipping this child equipment but rolling further down to the next level of children or stop rolling down completely from this level onwards.
