  1. From the Start menu, right-click Visualization Data Service > VDS Configuration Utility and select the Run as Administrator option to start the VDS Configuration Utility (if not already started).

  2. Click the Security Settings page.

  3. For the Audience ID (Service/Resource ID) setting, enter your authorization server's ID you obtained when setting up your authorization server (Install and configure the authentication service).

  4. For the CORS > Allowed Origins settings, you must enter the host addresses that can access data on the server. The default setting, All Origins Allowed, specifies that any host is allowed access using CORS. To add specific hosts, click Add (+), and then enter the host addresses shown below.

    • Hexagon Xalt access: https://xha.hexagonxalt.net

    • Web API for the Hexagon application servers to use (Smart Instrumentation, Smart P&ID, Smart Electrical):

      Example format - https://[servername].[domain.com].com

    • Authorization server access:

      Example format - https://[server.domain.com]/./[oauth]

  5. Enter the HTTPS settings to define the connection and certificate settings. We recommend VDS be installed on a separate server from other web services (authorization server or web API servers). In this case, enter 443 for the Port setting.
    -OR-
If you require web services to be on the same server as VDS, then use 22419 for the Port setting.

  6. Define the remaining required settings that are indicated by the asterisk (*). For setting descriptions see Security Settings.

  7. After editing the settings, continue your setup.
    -OR-
Click Save & Configure. This stops all services, and then creates and restarts the virtual directories and application pools with the updated settings.
