To edit files online using Office 365 and OneDrive, do the following:
-
Ensure that your Web Client site's URL is added as an exception in your browser's pop-up blocker, to enable files to be opened from OneDrive.
-
Ensure that you are logged into your Office 365 account. You will be prompted for your login and password if you are not logged into your Office 365 account.
When you edit a file online, it is reserved for edit, and saved to your OneDrive for editing.
-
Select Actions > Edit > Edit Online. The file is saved to your OneDrive.
The file is opened for editing in a new tab on your web browser if the file type is configured for editing in the browser by your administrator. If not, the OneDrive directory containing the file will be opened.
-
If you are accessing this feature for the first time, you will be prompted for your consent to allow the Web Client to access your OneDrive.
-
When you edit a file, a new revision or version of the object is created based on the object's revision status.
-
If the object state is set to CURRENT, a revision of the object is created.
-
If the object state is set to WORKING, a new version of the object is created.
-
-
If the document contains multiple files, the Select files to upload to OneDrive page is displayed to select the files to be checked out.
