The following applies if you are using a version of the software before Update 26. For the latest information, see Create a geotag.

You can create a geotag and add it to a laser scan image using a HxGN SDx object, such as tag (or any supported Hexagon software object). Adding the geotag to the laser scan creates a relationship between each TruView object created in the Leica TruView Enterprise or Cloud and each HxGN SDx object.

To create and add a geotag to the laser scan image, do the following:

  1. In the Web Client home page, click Laser Scans > Scans.

  2. In the Scans search results page, select and click a laser scan to add a geotag.

  3. In the Laser Scan Viewer page, click ADD GEOTAG add geotag to open the Add GeoTag window.

  4. In the Add GeoTag window,

    1. Click Search Tags tab to create a geotag using either the pinned object tags or any object tag by doing as follows:

      • Select the Pinned Tags and click the Search bar to search and select a tag from the pinned object tags list.

      • Select the All Tags and click on the Search bar to search and select a tag from the list of object tags present in the database.

    2. Click ADD Geotag to select the tag from the search results list.

In the search results list, tags which are related to current laser scan image are represented by tags on scan.

    3. Choose a location in the laser scan image, and click the location to add the tag to the laser scan.

To un-select the picking mode, click Select Unselect picking mode.

What is an Authentication approach?

Authentication approach is the validation done, based on the log on type used by HxGN SDx to connect and obtain data from the TruView Enterprise / TruView Cloud application server.

HxGN SDx supports the following authentication approaches to connect to the TruView server:

  • Single user

  • Multiuser

The type of authentication approach used to validate the user access is decided based on the option selected when the laser scan server object was created.

What is the difference between Single user and Multi user authentication approaches?

Single user

Multiuser

HxGN SDx Web Client uses single user account to access the data in TruView Enterprise or Cloud Server.

HxGN SDx Web Client allows multiple users to access the data in TruView Enterprise or Cloud Server.

HxGN SDx user credentials are provided and validated when creating the laser scan object using the Web Client. For more information, see Create a laser scan server.

HxGN SDx user needs to enter the credentials in the TruView Enterprise or Cloud log on window displayed in the Web Client when trying to access the data in TruView Enterprise or Cloud server.

The credentials are validated only if the user is logging for the first time. The user id asked to re-enter the credentials only when the TruView Enterprise or Cloud server restarts or the refresh token expires. For more information, see Create a laser scan server.

For more detailed information about the authentication approaches supported by the TruView Enterprise or Cloud, see TruView Development help.

  • In the Add GeoTag window, click Tags on scan to view the list of tags related to the current laser scan image.

  • Before you add a pinned tag to the laser scan, you must pin the required object tags to the Pinboard.

  • Based on the selected object tag type, the Search bar displays the tag count in the database. However, the search results list displays the top 100 tags from the database.
