In order for the software to assign the geometry in your symbol to the correct parts of the slot, you must name each geometric element in the symbol.

  1. On the Penetration Symbols toolbar, click Name Slot Geometry .

The Name Geometry dialog box displays. By default, Representation Geometry Only is selected, so only geometry in the Slot and SlotProfileSketchCurve representations is shown.

  2. In the Attribute name box, choose EdgeName.

  3. In the Geometry Type column, select a geometry type in the table. The corresponding graphical line highlights in the symbol.

If you have already created a profile sketch representation, be careful to select Slot geometry, and not SlotProfileSketchCurve geometry.

  4. In the Edge Name box, type the appropriate edge name text. In this example, the top of the slot is chosen to correspond with the name Top.

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Repeat until all edges of the slot are named.

  7. Click OK.

All edges must be named according to the naming conventions. See Edge Names.

SHARED Tip Check that profile edge names were properly copied in with the profile geometry. Clear Representation Geometry Only in the Name Geometry dialog box to see all edge names. Add edge names if needed.
