In addition to geometry and dimensions, end cuts require connect and length points on the ProfileSketch layer. These points position the end cut geometry and allow proper length calculations for profile sketches.

Several of these points are in the same location, but each one must be created and named separately.

Web Cut

Web cuts have the following ProfileSketch points:

  • Top and Bottom connect points - These points connect the end cut symbol to the rest of the profile sketch. They are usually coincident with the Top and Bottom mapping points.

  • Top and Bottom length points - The profile sketch code can compute the profile length that should appear on the profile sketch by comparing the location of Top and Bottom length points. These points may be coincident with the Top and Bottom mapping points, depending on the angle of the end cut.

  • Flange connect points - These points align the web cut with the web connect point on the flange cut. These points are coincident with the Top mapping point. They are also coincident with the Bottom mapping point on a profile with a bottom flange.

Flange Cut

Flange cuts have the following ProfileSketch points:

  • Top and Bottom connect points - These points connect the end cut symbol to the rest of the profile sketch. They are usually coincident with the intersection of the flange cut geometry and the FlangeRight and FlangeLeft edges of the profile.

  • Top and Bottom length points - The profile sketch code can compute the profile length that should appear on the profile sketch by comparing the location of Top and Bottom length points. These points can be coincident with the corners on the flange cut geometry, depending on the angle of the end cut.

  • Web connect point - This point aligns the flange cut with the flange connect point on the web cut. It is coincident with the Profile mapping point.
