Specifies the SmartSketch relationship indicators you want to use in your workspace.

Direction

Coordinate axis aligned Show me

Reference Axis Aligned SSK AGIF

Displays SSK_ReferenceAxis when you move the pointer so that the object that you are placing is aligned with either the E-, N-, EL-axis (X-, Y-, Z-axis) of the active coordinate system. For example, if you are routing a pipe that moves parallel to the E-axis (X-axis), this indicator appears.

Point

Key point Show me

Key Point SSK AGIF

Displays SSK_KeyPoint when you move the pointer over the end of an element to which you can attach other elements.

Nozzle or other port point Show me nozzles Show me pipe ends

Nozzle or other Port SSK

Nozzle or other Port Pipe End SSK AGIF.gif

Displays SSK_NozzlesAndPorts when you move the pointer over an equipment nozzle or other port. Press F2 to toggle this option on and off.

Center point

Displays SSK_CenterPoint when you move the pointer over the center of a circle or arc.

Point on curve

Displays SSK_PointOnCurve when you move the pointer over any connection point on an object, such as a nozzle on a piece of equipment.

Intersection Show me

Intersection SSK PRINT ONLY

Displays SSK_Intersection when you move the pointer over points where two or more objects overlap.

Perpendicular Show me

Perpendicular SSK AGIF

Displays SSK_Perpendicular when you move the pointer so that a perpendicular relationship between two objects is recognized. For instance, when you connect two pipes at a 90 degree angle, this indicator appears.

Parallel Show me

Parallel SSK AGIF

Displays SSK_Parallel when you place an object parallel to another object in your workspace. When this indicator appears, the software highlights the parallel objects. For example, if you add a section of pipe that runs parallel to another piece of pipe anywhere in your workspace, this indicator appears, and both objects are highlighted.

Divisor point Show me

Divisor Point SSK PRINT ONLY

Displays SSK_DivisorPoint when you move the pointer to the points where a line divides equally for the number of divisions that you set. A drop down list lets you choose from 2 to 10 divisions for the line. For example, if you select 4 for the number of divisions, you get a divisor point at ¼, ½, and ¾ of the length.

Surface

Point on surface Show me

Point on Surface SSK AGIF

Displays SSK_PointOnSurface when you move the pointer over any location point on a surface object, such as a slab. Press F3 to toggle the option on and off.

Virtual box

Displays ICON Virtual Box when you move the pointer to a bounding plane surrounding a graphical object. These bounding planes work only in conjunction with Point on curve and Offset.

Virtual Box Bounding Plane

Offset

Displays when you move the pointer to a location that is the specified offset from a selected element or line. Offset also displays Offset from surface. You must define a projection plane to use Offset.

Offset from surface - Displays when you point to the location of a line that is offset from the intersection of your selected projection plane with a surface that is in the SmartSketch locate list. For example, if you are locating the end of a pipe, the indicator appears along the line that is offset from the intersection of the projection plane with the web plane.

SHARED Tip The offset line is often easiest to locate if your view direction is perpendicular to the projection plane.

Object

Edges on solids

Displays SSK_EdgesOnSolids when you move the pointer over the edge of a solid object.

Silhouette edges

Displays SSK_SilhouetteEdge when you move the pointer over the silhouette edges of surfaces. The silhouette edges are the outside edges of the surface with respect to your view.

Silhouette Edge Round

Silhouette Edge Rectangle

SmartSketch 3D List

Locate only from list

Specifies that the software locates objects on the SmartSketch locate list starting at the bottom of the list. For more information, see Add to SmartSketch List.

Dwell time

Specifies the amount of time (in seconds) that you must pause the pointer on an object before the software adds that object to the SmartSketch locate list.

Size

Specifies the number of objects that you can add to the SmartSketch locate list before the software begins removing previously added objects. The value in this box must be an integer greater than 1.

  • Many of the Add to SmartSketch List controls also are available on the SmartSketch Properties dialog accessible from the Add to SmartSketch List ribbon.

  • You can press F3 to toggle the relationship indicator for locating surfaces on and off.

  • The shortcut keys to turn on SmartSketch select mode are CTRL+D.

  • The shortcut keys to set a lock constraint in SmartSketch are CTRL+L.
