Place Prismatic Shape ANIM

  1. Select and hold the Place Shape Command on the vertical toolbar to expand the Shapes palette.

  2. Select Prismatic Shape to open the Shape Properties Dialog.

    SHARED Tip If a designed equipment object has not been selected, select one in a graphic view or in the Workspace Explorer.

  3. On the Occurrence Tab (Shape Properties Dialog), select Display Aspect and select one or more aspects from the list.

    SHARED Tip You can click Format > View and change the Render Selected Aspects option in the Format View dialog to display the aspect in the active graphic view.

  4. On the Cross-Section Tab, select geometry from the Cross Section list to use as starting geometry for your sketch. Change the geometric property values as needed. This example uses Rectangle.

  5. Specify a name for the new shape.

  6. Select Sketch from the Cross Section list, and click OK.

  7. Define the cross-section path on the designed equipment and click Finish.

  8. On the Place Prismatic Shape Ribbon, select Cross-Section and then select Show Cross-Section View .

  9. Click Edit.

  10. Move or delete the existing geometry as needed. For this example, select all geometry and click Delete Select Items Delete CLASSIC ICON. The color of the deleted geometry changes from yellow to green.

  11. Sketch new cross-section geometry.

  • To change the turn type for the corner at the end of a line, select the new turn type in the Turn Type list and define the angle or dimensions for the turn in the Value box. The following graphic shows the available turn types:

  • The cardinal point, which is the point where the cross-section is attached to the path, is defined as you sketch. In other words, the cross-section surrounds the path and is attached to the path exactly as you sketch it.

  • To change the segment from a straight line to an arc, select Arc by 3 Points in the Path Type list, and then select three points to define the arc.

  • To switch back to a straight line after sketching an arc, select Line in the Path Type list.

  • To add precision to end point placement, use the PinPoint Command.

  1. Select the starting point of the cross-section to close the geometry.

  2. Select Finish to display a preview of the new shape, and then select Finish on the Place Prismatic Shape Ribbon to create the prismatic shape.
