The [Product Folder]\Core\Container\Bin\Assemblies\Release\SEDefinePort.exe utility is used to create Smart 3D port data on shapes inside 32-bit or 64-bit Solid Edge. You can run SEDefinePort.exe only inside Solid Edge.

You can add the following nozzle data to a protrusion in Solid Edge:

  • PipePort

  • PipePort (no added graphics)

  • HVACPort

  • HVACPort (no added graphics)

  • ElectricalPort

  • ConnectPort

  • FoundationPort

The general workflow is:

  1. Model the part/equipment in Solid Edge.

  2. Define the port/nozzle data using SEDefinePort.exe.

  3. Save the Solid Edge part, and create a Solid Edge assembly that contains the part.

  4. Define the generated assembly and ports information in the reference data, and then bulk load all the port data into the catalog database used in Smart 3D modeling.

Model the Equipment in Solid Edge

  1. Create a synchronous or ordered Solid Edge environment using Settings > Options > Helpers.

  2. Model the equipment/part.

  3. Add protrusions/solid to the part. The shape of the solid/protrusion must be either rectangular or cylindrical for all ports except a foundation port. A foundation port must be a right angular protrusion feature.

Define the Port/Nozzle Data using SEDefinePort.exe

  1. Select Tools > Run Macro, and start SEDefinePort.exe.

  2. Select the protrusion to assign the port data.

  3. Select the port type.

  4. Type a port name.

  5. Click OK.

Save the Part and Create an Assembly

  1. After the port data is added to the solid/protrusion, save the part as a *.par file.

  2. Create a new Solid Edge assembly file.

  3. From the Parts Library, drag and drop the listed parts.

  4. Save the assembly file as an *.asm file.

  5. Copy the assembly *.asm file and part *.par file to [Product Folder]\3DRefData\SharedContent\SolidEdgeParts

Define the Smart 3D Reference Data

In the bulk load sheets, add the assembly information:

  1. Create a new part class, for example: SolidEdgeNewData.

  2. Add the part class information to the R-Hierarchy worksheet.

  3. Define the details in the SolidEdgeNewData sheet:

  • The SymbolDefinition should have the format SP3DImportSE.CSym|SolidEdgeParts\<filename>.asm

  • Include the number of nozzles, their ID and type, should be included along with their data.

  • Bulk load the workbook into the catalog database.
