Property Default Source

The following commands indicate and control the default properties for the new duct run. If you click a command that is active, the software uses the default properties of that system or duct run.

Default Values for Ducting System

Uses the default properties set on the parent ducting system.

Default Values for Duct run

Uses the default properties from an existing duct run.

Last Used Properties Defaults Source Last Used Values

Uses the last saved System and Specification for the duct run.

General Properties

Category

Specifies the general group of properties to display.

Property

Identifies various properties that you must define when you start to route a new duct run.

Value

Specifies the value for the property.

System

Displays or defines the system for the duct run. The last system that you selected is the default. Click More to display all defined systems. You can create a new system in the Systems and Specifications task.

Name

Displays or defines the name of the duct run that you are creating. The name is based on the Name Rule selection. If you want to type a new name for the run, in the Name Rule box, select User Defined, and then type a name for the run in the Name box.

Name Rule

Specify the naming rule that you want to use to name this run. You can select one of the listed rules or select User Defined to specify the run name yourself in the Name box.

Specification

Displays or defines the specification for the duct run. Specifications are assigned to systems in the Systems and Specifications task. Only those specifications that are allowed in the system that you selected appear. You define specifications in the reference data.

Max. Recommended Velocity

Specifies the maximum recommended velocity for the duct run.

Max. Recommended Pressure Loss

Specifies the maximum recommended pressure loss for the duct run.

Material

Defines the material for the duct run.

Thickness

Defines the thickness of the duct run material.

Insulation Material

Specifies the material of the insulation.

Piping

If you selected Not Insulated in the Insulation Specification box, you cannot change the value in the Insulation Material box. However, if you manually entered the insulation specification, you must provide a corresponding insulation material as per the specification. If you selected an insulation specification from the available list, the software automatically displays the corresponding material as per the specification.

HVAC

If you select Not Insulated, you cannot change the information in Insulation Thickness.

Select More to select an insulation material from the Catalog. To change the options on the list, edit the Insulation Material select list in Catalog. See Select Insulation Material Dialog.

Insulation Thickness

Specifies the thickness of the insulation.

Piping

If you selected Not Insulated in the Insulation Specification box, you cannot change the value in the Insulation Thickness box. However, if you manually entered the insulation specification, you must provide a corresponding insulation thickness value as per the specification. If you selected an insulation specification from the available list, the software automatically displays the corresponding thickness value as per the specification.

HVAC

If you selected Not Insulated in the Insulation Material box, this property is unavailable.

Flow Direction

Specifies the flow direction for the duct run. The flow directional indicators are listed below:
