Before you translate your PDMS files, you must map the HEIGH custom property to a normalized interop schema (also referred to as a SPIOP or ISIP schema) property so that the custom property can be translated to a Smart Interop Object and imported into Smart 3D. Smart Interop Publisher delivers a set of format-specific default mapping files and corresponding custom mapping template files. The default installation folder for these files is [Install drive]:\Program Files\SmartPlant\Interop Publisher\3DInteropMappingFiles. See Review the delivered mapping files.

  1. Identify your custom properties. This exercise uses the HEIGH property in an example .att file:

  2. Export the PDMS data and .att files. Make sure that the resulting .rvm file and its associated attribute (.att) files have the same base file name so that Smart Interop Publisher can create the label database (.mdb2) file during the translation process.

  3. Open the SPIOPSchema.xlsx file located in [drive]:\Program Files\SmartPlant\Interop Publisher folder, and find a property and class that is the closest match for the custom HEIGH property. For this exercise, we will use the Height property in the CR3DStair class.

  4. Before you start mapping:

    1. Review the PDMSToR3DMapping.xls default mapping file to see the classes and properties that are currently mapped.

    2. Make a copy of the customPDMSToR3DMapping.xls file in the \CustomMappingFiles folder, and place the file in another folder location.

  5. Open the copied customPDMSToR3DMapping.xls file and go to the ClassMap sheet.

  6. Add a new class entry to map the TMPL class to the CR3DStair target class as shown below:

  7. On the PropertyMap sheet, add a new entry to map the customer HEIGH property.

  8. Save your edits for the customPDMSToR3DMapping.xls file.
