You must register each Smart 3D Change Management model that you create to ensure that all design changes remain synchronized between the Smart 3D Change Management model and the As-Built model in SDx.

  • To register a model, you must first configure Smart 3D to work in an integrated environment. See Working in an Integrated Environment in Intergraph Smart 3D Installation.

  • To create a new SDx registration, your administrator must create a new client in the Authorization server, specifying all the details such as Client ID, Client Secret, and so on. Make sure that you have obtained this required authentication data from your SDx administrator before registering the model with SDx.

  • You must have Full Control permissions at the model level to register a model with SDx.

  • The SDx login used during registration must have a System Administrator role, a Project Administrator role, or a Contractor Design Lead role on the plant to which you are registering.

  1. Open Project Management using the Run as Administrator option.

  2. Select the model to register in the Project Management tree, and then click Integration > Register with SDx Command to open the Authentication Dialog.

  3. Define the settings as needed. All fields are mandatory.

How do I fill in the Authentication dialog?

You can get the details to enter in the Authentication dialog box from your administrator.

To know more about registration, see Registering plants.

The default URI used for PKCE client for any of the authentication servers must be http://127.0.0.1/.

    1. In the SDx Server URL, type the URL of the SDx site you want to register with.

    2. In the Authentication code with Proof Key for Code Exchange and the Client Credentials sections, type the Client ID and the Client Secret in the respective boxes.

      • The Client ID identifies the Smart Client.

      • The Client Secret authenticates the Smart Client and allows access to Smart API.

      • You must enter the values for Client ID and Client Secret in two sections - Authentication code with Proof Key for Code Exchange and Client Credentials.

        • The values in Authentication code with Proof Key for Code Exchange redirects you to the applicable authentication server logon page.

        • The values in Client Credentials authenticates the client and redirects you to the register page.

        • If you are using OKTA with PKCE for authentication, the Client Secret box is optional.

  4. Click OK to open the Intergraph Authorization Server Login page.

  5. Type your user name and password, and then click Login.

After verifying your credentials, the software connects to the SDx server, and opens the Register Dialog. The system automatically populates the Tool ID box to display the tool that you are registering, in this case Smart 3D. The system also populates the SDX Server URL box with the URL you entered on the Authentication dialog.

  6. Provide information in the Tool description box. A new registration relationship and unique tool signature is created for each unique tool description provided, allowing you to register the same authoring tool to one plant multiple times for different organizations or disciplines.

  7. Choose the SDx plant with which to register in the Select a Plant list.

  8. Select a work area definition in which to work as needed.

  9. Click OK to register the model with the SDx server.

  10. After registration completes successfully, the software displays a message. Click OK to close the message box.

  • When you register a Standard model with SDx, the software synchronizes the 3D material definitions to SDx. When you register a Change Management model with SDx, the software synchronizes the 3D material definitions from SDx to the Change Management model.

  • To view the parameters to be stored in SDx, click Tool Parameters in the Register Dialog.

  • To make any changes to the registration details, you can re-register the model to SDx:

    1. In the Authentication Dialog, edit the following information as needed:

      • If you are using a host workstation, you can edit the SDx Server URL, Client ID, and Client Secret.

      • If you are using a satellite workstation, you can only edit the Client ID and Client Secret for PKCE and Client Credentials. Note that for satellite workstations, Client ID and Client Secret under Client Credentials are optional.

  • Click OK in the Register Dialog to modify the registration details. You cannot edit the boxes in the Register dialog.
