Create a shell expansion drawing - Intergraph Smart 3D - Help - Hexagon

The following procedure steps you through creating shell expansion drawings, using the Shell Expansion component delivered with Drawings by Rule. The component creates two drawings: one for the port expansion and one for the starboard expansion. The steps can be performed in the Drawings and Reports task or from Tools Menu > Drawing Console in other tasks.

Create a Drawing Component

1. Right-click the drawing root in the Management Console and select New > More to open the Add Component Dialog.

2. Select Folder on the General tab of the Add Component Dialog.

3. Click OK to create the new folder.

4. Right-click the folder, and select the Rename Command. Give the folder the needed name.

5. Right-click the folder and select New > More to open the Add Component Dialog.

6. Select the Ship Structure tab of the Add Component Dialog.

7. Select the Shell Expansion package and click OK. The Shell Expansion component displays in the console.

8. If needed, right-click the component and and select the Rename Command. Give the component the needed name.

Set Up the Drawing Component

1. Right-click the component and select the Setup Command to open the Setup Dialog. The View Builder hierarchy contains views for the view types to be created: PORT and STARBOARD.

2. Select the PORT view and click Properties .

3. In the View Definition Dialog, select the needed Coordinate System and click OK.

4. Repeat the previous step for the STARBOARD view.

5. Select the Queries tab in the Setup Dialog.

6. Select All in the Select View Type list. The filter Root Hull Plate Systems is selected in the Filter list.

7. Click Run Query .

8. Select PORT in the Select View Type list. Results for the view type display at the bottom of the Queries tab.

9. Repeat the previous step for STARBOARD in the Select View Type list, and click OK..

Create Drawings

1. In the Management Console or the Drawing Console, right-click the component and select Create Drawing(s) to open the Drawing Generation dialog.

2. When the Generation Status displays "Creating Documents Complete," click Exit. Port shell expansion and starboard shell expansion drawings are created. The drawings are out-of-date and a red X icon is superimposed on each drawing icon.

3. To update all drawings, right-click the component in the Management Console and select the Update Command. To update individual drawings, right-click a drawing and select the Update Command. When a drawing is up-to-date, a green check icon is superimposed on the drawing icon.
