Inserts the Clipboard contents into a selected document or a selected area of the model as new objects with new names. This dialog displays when you click Paste Com_Paste in the Modify Selection Controls.

Paste Options

Com_Target ICON Paste to Point

Pastes objects in the clipboard to a position relative to the selected base point.

Com_Show_Clipboard_Window Show Clipboard Window

Opens a window that displays the Clipboard (copied physical objects), including the input objects.

Com_Document_Image Paste Preview

Shows a detailed outline of the object placement.

Required Relationships

Selects a parent for the copied objects. The current relationships copied from the source object display. You can modify the relationships as required for the copied objects.

Advanced Paste Options

Keep original permission groups

Controls the permission group assignment for the pasted objects. This option is helpful when you are pasting large data sets containing different types of objects (piping, equipment, structure). Here are some important points to remember about this option.

  • When this option is selected, the software assigns all copied objects to the original permission group, as long as you have write access to that permission group.

  • When this option is selected, if you do not have write access or if the permission group does not exist (such as in the case when mirroring and copying from one database to another), then the software assigns the objects to the active permission group.

Paste in place

Inserts the Clipboard contents at the same coordinates as the original objects. The software does not prompt for the position of the pasted objects with this option. Use View commands to adjust the view to be able to select the paste point.

Optional Relationships

Displays relationships that can be deleted that are not required for the new objects. All optional relationships applied by default to the new Smart 3D objects are taken from the parent object. Some might not need to be applied to the new object. Click Delete All to remove all optional relationships, or edit each relationship individually.
