The Window Tab > Properties view displays properties for selected objects. If the object displayed in the view window does not have any properties associated with it, the Properties view is blank.

To view the properties of objects, select the objects in the hierarchy explorer or model.

The type and name of the object you have selected displays at the top of the view. This display depends on the number and type of objects in your select set.

  • Single object

The name and type of the object displays. In the example, the pump foundation port is selected in the graphic view (1). The object type (Foundation Port) and name (PumpFoundationPort) are reflected in the Properties view (2).

  • Multiple objects of the same type

The object type and number of objects selected display (1) . Properties that have the same value for all the objects in the select set display those values. Properties with values that vary for different objects display Mixed Values. Changing a value sets that value for all objects in the select set.

  • Multiple objects of multiple types

Various object types displays with the number of objects selected. Only those properties that all objects have in common display. Properties that have the same value for all the objects in the select set display those values. Properties with values that vary for different objects display Mixed Values. Changing a value sets that value for all objects in the select set.

    VariousProps_MultipleObjects

The amount of processing time required to display the properties for the objects you have selected depends upon the number of objects you have selected. To keep the processing time to a reasonable length, Smart 3Dx limits the number of objects for which it automatically displays the properties. If you select more objects than the limit, Smart 3Dx displays a message telling you that there are too many objects to automatically display. You can then choose to display the properties anyway, change your limit, or create a different selection. Click Menu Choose Columns ICON > Options, and then click the General tab to change the maximum number of objects that automatically display properties.
