Starting Smart 3Dx and selecting a Site

Click Start > Intergraph Smart 3D > Smart 3Dx to display the Modify Site Database Location Dialog.

Select your database type, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.

Select the name of your database server. If you are using Microsoft SQL Server, the database must be registered using Microsoft SQL Server Management Tools to appear in the list.

Select the Site database to use from the list.

Click OK to open the Smart 3Dx Welcome screen.
Create a new session file
New session files are based on a template which provides a starting point for your model. Templates include information such as units of measure, views, styles, and other properties. Frequently-used templates display in the New Session File list. You can get to additional templates by clicking the down arrow beside the list.
Session files allow you to save window sizes and locations, layout, and view orientation from one work session to the next. One of the settings saved in the session is the workspace. See Create a new session file.

Double-click a template from the New Session File list to display Define Workspace Dialog.

Select the model from the Choose a Model list.

Select the filter.

Click OK.
Smart 3Dx starts the design session using the template and filter you selected.

Save a session file and then Use an existing session file to reopen your model in Smart 3Dx.

Use an existing session file from the Recent Session Files list.

Open a session file that does not display in the Recent Session Files list by clicking Open Session File and browsing to the file.
