Displays properties for interference volumes. An interference volume is an area that you want to participate in interference checking so that no other objects are placed in, or run through, the volume. Examples of interference volumes include buildings, underground obstructions, or roadways.
The order in which the properties display in your view depends on your configuration.
Approval State
Specifies the status of the selected object or filter. Changing this property sets the Status. The display depends on your access level. You might be unable to change the status of the object. The list is defined by the ApprovalStatus codelist.
Smart 3Dx saves an object to the database when you change that object's status. Use Undo (CTRL + Z) to reverse the status change.
You can only edit or manipulate an object with a status of Working.
Created by
Specifies the name of the person who created the object.
Date Created
Specifies the creation date of the object.
Date Last Modified
Specifies the date of the last modification to the object.
Display Aspect
Specifies all the display aspects that can be applied to the selected interference volume. The available aspects are listed below.
Simple physical
Includes primitive shapes. This aspect creates a less cluttered view of the object, showing only the body of equipment or a simplified cross-section for structure, as shown below.
Detailed physical
Provides a more detailed view of an object. This aspect shows all the graphical details associated with the equipment or structure. For example, certain types of equipment may include legs and lugs. For marine structure, this aspect uses all geometry in the cross-section, as shown below.
Insulation
Shows an area around a piece of equipment indicating the presence of insulation. This aspect is also used to display structural fireproofing insulation. For example, a 4-inch pipe with insulation might look like an 8-inch pipe when this aspect is used.
Operation
Includes the area or space around the object required for operation of the object. This space shows in the model but not in drawings. For example, this aspect leaves enough space around a motor for a person to operate the motor or the overhead space needed for someone to walk up a stairway.
Maintenance
Includes the area or space around the object required to perform maintenance on the object. This space may appear in the model but not in drawings. For example, this aspect leaves enough space around a motor to perform maintenance on a motor, including space to remove the motor.
Reference Geometry
Allows you to construct or add graphical objects that do not participate in interference checking. For example, a reference geometry object could be a spherical control or the obstruction volume for a door. For marine structure, this aspect allows you to control the display of landing curves for design seams, profile systems, reference curves, and knuckle curves.
Centerline
Displays objects as a single line representation. For example, this aspect is useful for when you want to display handrails or structural members as a single-line on drawings. For structure, the centerline is determined from the cardinal point used to place the member. That cardinal point is not always the center of the object.
EndCutType
Displays glyphs for the type of end cut defined for Start Connection and End Connection of stiffener profile systems in Molded Forms.
By Rule
The connection is determined by assembly connection rules defined for Structural Detailing.
No glyph displays.
Welded
Places a welded web and flange cut.
Cutback
Places a web and flange cut that are straight (not snipped) but are cut back from the bounding object.
Clip
Places a welded web and a snipped flange cut.
Snip
Places a snipped web and flange cut.
Lug
Places a specialized welded end cut.
Bracketed
Places a bracket as a child of the assembly connection.
No glyph displays.
Auxiliary Wire
A part wire representation used internally by the software. Do not turn on this aspect unless requested by Hexagon Support.
Auxiliary Solid
A part solid representation used internally by the software. Do not turn on this aspect unless requested by Hexagon Support.
Molded Forms
Displays plate, profile, and beam systems for marine structure.
Equipment Hole
Displays holes for marine structure created by Hole Management.
EndCutType
Displays the connection type as a wireframe geometry in the graphics view. The available end cut types are shown below.

Hyperlink
Specifies the URL or local file path associated with the object. Click the hyperlink to open the page or object in your default browser. Point to the hyperlink to display the URL or path as a tooltip.
Description
Specifies the descriptive text associated with the hyperlink.
URL
Specifies the web address or local file name associated with the hyperlink. The URL must include the protocol, such as http: or https:, as well as the domain name. For example, https://hexagonppm.com/.
Last Modified by
Specifies the name of the person who last modified the object.
Name
Specifies the name of the selected object. If the name is too long to entirely display in the box, point to the box to display the complete name as a tool tip. If the name is not defined by a rule, User Defined displays. If this name is generated by a naming rule, Naming Rule displays. If you type a name in this box, Smart 3Dx automatically changes the naming rule to User Defined.
Parent System
Specifies the parent system for the object. Recently used systems that are appropriate to assign as the parent system for this object as well as the Select from Workspace and Select from Model options display in the list. The most recently used system displays at the top.
The parent system of the object must have an Approval Status of Working before you can change the Parent System value. If the Approval Status of the parent system is not set to Working, this value is read-only.
Select Interactively
Turns on or off the interactive selection. When this option is on, you can select the parent object in a graphic view or any of the explorers.
Select from Workspace
Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Workspace tab open. The workspace is the subset of the active model database you specified when you started your design session. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then click OK.
Select from Model
Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Model tab open. The model is all of the objects in the active model database, including those that are not part of your workspace. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then click OK.
Surface Area
Specifies the surface area value of the volume.
Volume
Specifies the volume of the compartment or zone.
