This procedure explains how to assign a cable that you are editing to a given cable drum.

  1. In the Electrical Index, expand the folder hierarchy Wiring Equipment > Cables.

  2. Expand the required folder among the following: Power Cables, Control Cables, Grounding Cables, or Instrumentation Cables.

  3. Right-click the cable that you want to assign, and on the shortcut menu select Common Properties.

  4. On the Cable Common Properties dialog, select the Design Data tab.

  5. In the Drum Assignment group box, select Find.

The software finds only those cable drums that have been associated with the same reference cable and pulling area as the current cable.

  6. On the Find dialog, select Find Now.

  7. In the Results data window, select the cable drum to which you want to assign the cable, and select OK.

  • If a cable exceeds the maximum cable drum capacity, the software automatically defines the required cable cuts for that cable. You can view the specified lengths of the cable cuts on the Cable Cut Definitions dialog by selecting Cable Cuts the Design Data tab of the Cable Common Properties dialog. Select View in the Drum assignment group box. For more information, see Define Manual Cable Cuts.

  • For calculation details, see Rules Governing Cable Drum Calculations.
