Before you can perform detailed design in Smart P&ID using data provided from Aspen Basic Engineering (ABE), you must register your Smart P&ID plant with an ABE plant. Then, when you open a drawing in the registered plant, simulation data from ABE automatically generates task in the To Do List of the Smart P&ID plant.

On an Oracle platform, if using a single Oracle instance, the schema names, tablespace names, and user names must be unique in each tool and in ABE. For example, if the schema name in ABE is Site 1, any sites that you use with Smart P&ID must have unique names and these sites cannot be named Site 1.

The software maps a plant and all its projects to a single ABE URL, which points to one, and only one, ABE plant database and its projects. When you use the Register with ABE command, you are registering a Smart P&ID plant with a URL and plant that you specify.
