The manual mapping option allows you to select entities under the Common Schema extension (Source) and preview the mapping with new or existing entities in the Tool Schema (Target).

Preview of mapping with new entities

This option allows you to select multiple rows in the Common Schema extension and will create new entities in the Tool Schema to map to each selected row.

  1. From the Filter list, select Unmapped.

  2. If required, use the Search data box and column filters to narrow the list of entities that appear in the Source pane. Use the column sort options to order the data by preferred columns.

  3. At the left of the Schema Management window, select a category: Properties, Lists, or List Items.

  4. In the Source pane, select one or more entities.

  5. If required, select entities under other categories.

If an entity you select for mapping has a dependency on another unmapped entity, you must also select that entity to ensure that both entities will be mapped.

  6. At the top right of the Target pane, click and then click Preview Mapping.

  7. From the Filter list, select Mapped.

The entities to be mapped are shown in bold font in the Source and Target panes, for example:

Preview of mapping with existing entities

This option allows you to select a single row under each category in both the Source and Target panes and will create mapping between the selected entities.

  1. From the Filter list, select Unmapped.

  2. If required, use the Search data box and column filters to narrow the list of entities that appear in the Source pane. Use the column sort options to order the data by preferred columns.

  3. At the left of the Schema Management window, select one of the following categories: Properties, Lists, or List Items.

  4. In the Source and Target panes, select one pair of entities to be mapped:

If an entity you select for mapping has a dependency on another entity, you must first remove the selection from the pair of entities, map the entity on which it has the dependency, and then return to select the original pair of entities.

    • For mapping to an existing target entity, you can select one pair of entities under one category only at a time for previewing.

    • The selected pair of entities must belong to the same Class.

  5. At the top right of the Target pane, click and then click Preview Mapping.

  6. From the Filter list, select Mapped.

All the entities to be mapped are shown in bold font in the Source and Target panes:

    • When mapping an existing property manually, if other instances of that property appear in the target under different classes for the same interface, each of those instances with its corresponding source property are also displayed as mapped. In the above example, a single pair of properties was selected for mapping and two pairs of properties were actually mapped.

    • In the Target pane, the values in the Mappings column are updated:
