The options on the Alarm and Range tab allow you to define DCS range and alarm properties for the selected CS tag. Note that these properties are shared by the tag number or virtual tag that is associated with the current CS tag. Therefore, changing a property on this tab affects not only the current CS tag but also the tag number or virtual tag associated with the current CS tag. If there are several CS tags associated with a tag number, changing a range or an alarm value affects all the associated CS tags too.

Also, alarm and range values can be shared by Smart Instrumentation and various DSC vendors such Emerson's DeltaV. Therefore, some of these properties may have been retrieved from these systems prior to opening this dialog.

Control system tag

Displays the name of the current control system tag.

DCS range

These options allow you to define the DCS range values for the instrument associated with the current CS tag.

Min

Allows you to type the minimum DCS range value.

Max

Allows you to type the maximum DCS range value.

Unit of measure

Allows you to select a unit of measure for the DCS range values you entered.

Alarm

The following options allow you to define the alarm values for the current CS tag.

Low

Allows you to type the low alarm value for the current CS tag.

Low-Low

Allows you to type the low-low alarm value for the current CS tag.

High

Allows you to type the high alarm value for the current CS tag.

High-High

Allows you to type the high-high alarm value for the current CS tag.

Unit of measure

Allows you to select a unit of measure for the DCS alarm values you entered.

Copy data from process data

Copies the alarm data from the process data of the associated instrument.
