This dialog holds the data used to identify and classify instruments according to instrument types and process functions. For a detailed discussion of instrument types used in Smart Instrumentation, see Instrument Type.
The data window contains the existing instrument types and their properties. The properties include the instrument type description, control system tag instrument type alias, and general process function sub-category. To edit the properties of an instrument type, double-click the field and type the new value. To add a new instrument type, select New.
Process function
Enables you to select a process function to which the current instrument type belongs. Note that processes function that you select affects the items displayed in the data window.
Find instrument type
Allows you to find a record in the data window. Type the item you want to find and the software highlights the record in the data window below.
Profile
Opens the Instrument Type Profile dialog to set the instrument type profile defaults.
New
Select to add a new row where you can type new values as needed.
Delete
Delete a selected instrument type. Note that you cannot delete an instrument type that was used for existing tag numbers.
