Smart Instrumentation Version
13.1

This dialog displays the default library of database views available for specifications. Using this dialog, you can also associate with Smart Instrumentation database views that you have created in your external application, for example in InfoMaker. After adding a user-defined view in this dialog, you can add it to a spec page using the Regenerate Page option of the Page Editor (the view becomes available for selection on the Regenerate Page dialog).

When creating a user-defined database view, you can include in this view columns from various Smart Instrumentation tables. Using database views, you can retrieve data from these tables and display this data in specifications.

User-defined database views must comply with certain conditions. In addition, it is strongly recommended that you make backups of all your user-defined views before upgrading Smart Instrumentation.

Specification views

Displays the database views currently associated with Smart Instrumentation. After selecting New, type the appropriate user-defined database view name in the new row (characters are not case-sensitive).

View

Displays all the default and user-defined views that are ready for use in spec pages. The following default views are available:

fieldbus_spec

Contains columns with function block properties associated with fieldbus tags.

view_line

Contains columns with line data.

device_panel_view

Contains columns with device panel data.

device_cable_view

Contains columns with device cable data.

control_system_view

Contains columns with control system tag data.

hybrid_control_valve_view

Contains columns with hybrid control valve data for a hybrid case specification.

analyzer_master_view

Contains columns with the complex analyzer data.

view_measuring_component

Contains columns with the line measuring component data for complex analyzers.

cable_type

Contains columns with cable type data for a cable specification.

calibration_setting

Contains columns with calibration data.

component_dimensional

Contains columns with dimensional datasheet data.

component_port

Contains columns with all associated downstream line data.

The component_upper_down_line view is no longer available. If you have upgraded from a previous version of Smart Instrumentation, specifications that use this view, you must regenerate the specification page before viewing. You should use the component_port view as a replacement for the component_upper_down_line.

View Status

Indicates whether the view is a default view or user-defined. All the default views are available for use in spec pages automatically. To add a user-defined view, select New.

Item Type

Displays the item type associated with the view. For a user-defined view, you can select an item type from a list. For the default views, the item type is fixed. The displayed item type indicates that you can only use the current view in a specific item specification. For example, you can only use the default view cable_type in a cable specification.

OK

Makes user-defined views that you added available for use in spec pages. In the Page Editor, you can regenerate a page, and then add the user-defined view in the page.

New

Appends a new empty row to the data window. Allows you to enter the name of a user-defined view and make it available for use in spec pages.

Delete

Deletes a selected user-defined view from the Smart Instrumentation database if this view is not used in any spec page. You cannot delete default views.
