This window enables you to connect multiple device cables to a terminal strip in batch mode. You do this by selecting appropriate device cables or cable sets and making the required connection definitions. Smart Instrumentation connects the device cables to the terminal strip. Note the following conditions regarding the device cables that you want to connect in a batch:

  • You have already connected one end of each device cable to a device panel.

  • You want to connect the free end of each device cable to the terminal strip that you selected in the Domain Explorer or Reference Explorer before you opened the Batch Device Cable Connection window.

To access the Batch Device Cable Connection window, right-click a terminal strip in the Domain Explorer or Reference Explorer, and then on the shortcut menu, select Actions > Batch Connection.

Connect all shields to

Allows you to determine the way that Smart Instrumentation connects shields to the terminal strip. Accept the default or clear the setting to connect the shields according to the protocols of the connection types that you selected, or select a common terminal to which you want to connect all shields.

Connect all overall shields to

Allows you to determine the way that Smart Instrumentation connects overall shields to the terminal strip. Accept the default or clear the setting to connect the overall shields according to the protocols of the connection types that you selected, or select a common terminal to which you want to connect all shields.

Connect selected rows only

Determines which device cables displayed in the data window are connected when you select . Select this check box to connect the selected cables only, or clear to connect all of the displayed cables.

Data Window

Displays device cables and their cable sets that you dragged from the Device Cable Manager for batch mode connection. You can manually rearrange the cable sets by selecting a set and dragging it to a new position in the data window.

Device Panel

Displays the device panel name.

Device Terminal Strip

Displays the name of the terminal strip in the device panel in the data window.

Device Cable

Displays the device cable name.

Cable Set

Displays the device cable set name.

Connection Type

Allows you to select a required connection type.

Starting Terminal

Allows you to select the starting terminal for the connecting cable set. This option is not available if you selected Automatic for all cable sets.

Terminal Side

Allows you to select the side of the terminal strip to which you connect the cable set.

Current strip pop-up window

Displays all the terminals of the current terminal strip. A screw head indicates that this terminal is already connected. Select to hide or display.

Device Cable Manager

Displays the device cables available for batch connection. You select device cables or cable sets, and on the manager tool bar, select to move them to the data window.
