You use the Cable Drums dialog to define and manage the cable drums in your <plant>. Note that cable drums are categorized according to cable type.
To open this dialog, in the Wiring Module window, select Tables > Cable Drums.
Cable type
Allows you to select an appropriate cable type to filter the entries in the data window.
Find cable drum
Allows you to find a record in the data window. You can type the item you want to find and the software selects the record in the data window below.
Data Window
Displays all the available cable drums. You can select a value that your want to edit, or select New to add a new data row.
Name
Allows you to type a cable drum name.
Description
Allows you to type a cable drum description.
Pulling Area
Select a pulling area where the cable drum is located.
Length
Allows you to type the total length of cable on a drum.
Utilized Length
Displays the length of drum cable already assigned.
Length UOM
Allows you to select the length unit of measure for this drum.
Drum Status
Allows you to select one of the following drum statuses:
Design
A drum that has not yet been purchased. It is available for cable-drum optimizations or manual assignments. In addition, you can delete a Design drum or modify its length.
Purchased
A drum that was already purchased. Although optimization or manual assignment can assign additional cable to a purchased drum, you cannot delete a Purchased drum or modify its length.
Locked
A purchased cable drum you define as locked. Smart Instrumentation does not allow you to delete a Locked drum or modify its length. Further, it is not available for optimization or for manual assignment.
Spare Length Percent
Allows you to type the percentage of total drum cable length that is not available for assignment.
