You use this dialog to create and define the properties of the connectors of a given cable, and to assign cable wires to connector pins. You can also delete cable connectors.

Smart Instrumentation allows you to build your wiring system with any of the following connector implementations:

  • Connector at one or both cable ends

  • Connector at end of a single cable set

  • Connector at end of wires from different cable sets

To open this dialog, on the Cable Properties dialog, select Connectors.

Cable

Displays the cable for which you are managing connectors.

Polarity validation

Instructs the software validate that the value that you select for pin polarity matches the value displayed for wire polarity. Note that the software can validate the polarity only at the time of adding or modifying the wire-pin assignment. If you want the software to validate the polarity you need to select this check each time before adding or modifying wire-pin assignment.

End 1

Contains the fields that define the connectors of the first cable end.

Connector

Displays the connector name that you set in the Connector Properties (New) dialog.

Connector Type

Displays the connector type that you selected on the Connector Properties (New) dialog.

Male/Female

Displays Male or Female, according to the value that you selected on the Connector Properties (New) dialog.

Pin

Displays the name inherited for this pin from the connector type.

Pin Polarity

Displays the polarity inherited for this pin from the connector type.

Wires per Pin

Allows you to type the number of wires that you want to connect to this pin. When you change from the default value of 1, the software adds a new row for each wire.

Cable Set

Allows you to select a cable set from which you want to select a wire to connect to the current pin.

Wire Tag

Allows you to select the wire that you want to connect to the current pin.

Wire Polarity

Displays the polarity of the wire that you selected.
