Use this dialog to copy existing cable routing to destination cables, thus saving time when creating routing for similar cables. Smart Instrumentation indicates if you select destination cables that already have routing properties, as these properties are overridden by copying.
To open this dialog, in the List view of the Domain Explorer, select cables as necessary. right-click the selected cables and then on the shortcut menu, select Actions > Copy Cable Routing.
Source cable
A source cable is a cable from which you copy routing data. This list displays the uppermost cable you selected in the Domain Explorer. Select a source cable, or accept the cable displayed.
Mode
There are three modes of effecting cable routing. You move back-and-forth among them by selecting from the Mode list. The options are:
Routing
Associates sections with a new cable routing or to edit an existing cable routing.
Copy
Copies the settings of an existing routing to selected cables (default selection).
Append
Adds the routing data of a source cable to a destination cable.
End 1 location
Displays the device connected to one of the cable ends, if appropriate, as defined in the relevant connection dialog.
End 2 location
Displays the device connected to the other cable end, if appropriate, as defined in the relevant connection dialog.
Pulling area
Displays the pulling area to which the current cable is assigned. To change the pulling area, select to open the Cable Properties dialog.
Revision
Displays the routing revision identifier.
Source routing data
The grid in the Source routing data group box displays the sections associated with the selected cable, the section order, length, and routing positions
Panel to routing distance
Displays the distance between an instrument and a routing section.
Total routing length
Displays the sum of the section lengths and the panel-routing distance.
Cable spare length
Displays the cable spare length based on the values you entered on the Cable Routing Options dialog.
Total cable length
Displays the sum of the section lengths, the panel-routing distance, and the cable spare length.
Wiring Explorer
The Wiring Explorer displays all items that are associated with wiring. Select those cables that you want to copy the source cable routing data to, and select OK to copy them to the Destination cables grid.
To reopen Wiring Explorer, select in the Destination cables section.
Destination cables
Data Window
Displays the cables that you selected from the Wiring Explorer as candidates for the Copy operation, with a check box indication if the cable already has routing data. This grid contains the following fields:
Select
Check this to include the cable in the Copy operation.
Cable Name
Displays the name of the cable you selected from the Wiring Explorer.
Existing Routing
Displays Yes if the cable already has routing and No if it does not.
Allows you to reopen Wiring Explorer.
Select all
Check this to include as targets for the Copy operation, all the cables displayed in the Destination cables grid. If you clear this check box, the software excludes from the append operation all the cables displayed in the Destination cables grid.
Select all cables without routing
Check this to include as targets for the Copy operation, all cables that do not yet have routing.
