The options on the Source tab enable you to define a filtering condition that will be used to import data selectively according to the filtering conditions you set that can contain any combination of the following:

  • Source fields

  • Operators or functions

  • Alphanumeric values

The options in this tab also enable you to further define the import source by doing the following:

  • Import data from more than one source table by associating the columns other tables or database files to the source table or database file. The associated columns then automatically become part of the source data that you select on the Link Definitions dialog.

  • Assign a process function to an instrument when importing from a database that has no such association.

Source table filter

Use filter

This option allows you to filter the source table and this way import selective data only.

Selecting this check box will make the data window accessible and the Modify button available.

Modify

Select to open the Import Source Filter dialog where you can define a filtering condition to import selective data only.

Filter definition

Type the required filter condition in the window. You can also define the filter condition in the Import Source Filter dialog. This filter condition will then appear in the data window.

Source tables

Associate

Select this check box to apply the defined source table associations that you defined in the Associating Reference Tables dialog.

This check box is active only when importing data into modules that require code adapting, for example, the Process Data module.

Define

Select to open the Associating Reference Tables dialog where you can associate additional source data to the source table that will be imported into one or more target tables.

Process function

Assign

Select this check box to apply the process function assignment you defined in the Instrument Type Description dialog.

Define

Select to open the Instrument Type Description dialog where you can assign a process function to an instrument that has no such association.

Use system codes

Select this check box to apply the system codes adapted from a source database that has system codes for its fields different from Smart Instrumentation. This option is available only if the source table contains fields that require system codes. Note that prior to setting the import parameters, you must select the appropriate source system in the Source System List dialog and define the system codes in the Adapt System Codes dialog.
