Before retrieving data, you must configure Smart Instrumentation to work in file mode. For details, see Configure Smart Instrumentation to Publish and Retrieve Data in File Mode.

  1. In Smart Instrumentation, select Tools > Interfaces > Honeywell.

  2. Under Data transfer mode, select Retrieve Honeywell data and select OK.

  3. In the Select Data XML File window, navigate to the .xml file that contains the Honeywell Experion PKS data and select Open.

    SHARED Tip After selecting the file, two more windows open: Select Meta-data XML File and Select Tombstones XML File. Select Cancel in both windows.

  4. On successful completion of the retrieval, select Close on the message box that appears, or if errors occurred, select View Log to troubleshoot them.

  5. Select SmartPlant > To Do List.

    If using Fieldbus tags, after retrieving the Honeywell Experion PKS data, but before running any tasks from the To Do List, you must make associations between Foundation Fieldbus device types, instrument manufacturers, and Smart Instrumentation instrument types. For more information, see Associate Device Types for DCS Vendors.

  6. In the To Do List window, select all the Create tasks for the Honeywell Experion PKS items; however, do not select the Update task for the CS Tag.

  7. From the To Do List toolbar, select Run TaskPPM All Outputs Graphic.

    • Perform this action creates the Honeywell Experion PKS controllers, slots, I/O cards, and so on in the Domain Explorer under the Controllers folder.

    • For more details of available options when running tasks, see Run Tasks from the To Do List.

  8. In the Domain Explorer, create a DCS and rack as needed, and then drag a Honeywell Experion PKS slot to the rack.

  9. In the To Do List window, run the Update task for the CS Tag.
