The CADWorx interface enables you to import instrumentation data from a CADWorx database. CADWorx databases are in Microsoft Access.

Before importing from CADWorx, make sure to perform all the prerequisites in Prerequisites for Importing CADWorx Data.

Define process functions for the Tags link as follows:

  1. Right-click the Tags link.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. Select the Source tab.

  4. In the Process function group box, select Define.

  5. On the Process Function Mapping dialog, select Define Fields.

  6. Define the relevant fields and select OK.

  7. Map a Process Function to each instrument type by dragging a Process Function from the list.

  8. Select OK when you are finished.

  9. Select OK on the Link Properties dialog.

  10. When you are prompted about overwriting data, select Yes.

Set Valves to use Default Values

Set the Valves link to use default values as follows:

  1. Right click the Valves link and select Properties.

  2. On the General tab, in Undefined NOT NULL fields, select Use default value.

  3. Select OK.

Change Naming Conventions

The links for the CADWorx import use a default naming convention for tag numbers and loop names that may not conform to the naming conventions in the unit where you are importing the data. Make sure to modify the Tag Number and Loop Name syntax in the following links to conform to your target unit's naming conventions:

  • Loops

  • Process Information

  • Tags

  • Tags_UDF

  • Valves

Importing

It is possible to run all the CADWorx group links automatically in order of their appearance. Advanced users can perform a manual import process which allows you to carry out a step- by-step procedure. Importing data this way enables you to view and modify the default import parameters and link settings.

  • To import all the CADWorx link, right-click the CADWorx link group and select Import.

  • To import the links individually, right-click the links one at a time and select Import.
